This is such a crucial perspective! As students approach the culmination of their degree, the exhaustion and pressure can be overwhelming, especially after dedicating years to their dissertation. Having someone acknowledge their hard work and remind them of the significance of their research can be incredibly uplifting. It's like having a cheerleader in their corner, boosting their morale when they need it most. It's heartening to know that there are people out there supporting students in this way.

Great post, Eve! (Love the title!) And congratulations on earning your CPE!

If I may, I'd like to clarify one small point about the "two more experts [who] are brought in to derive the final scores from the data supplied."

A marking analyst looks at all of the test results and determines the appropriate passing grade for that administration of the test. This is part of checking the validity and reliability of the test questions.

Then an auditor (an accounting firm) verifies that the marks have been correctly added up on each test and attributed to the correct person.

As you say in your blog post, the entire testing and marking process is rigorous. We're very proud of our world-class program, and proud of all the certified editors it has produced.
